THE Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA) and stakeholders will promote bird watching activities in the Koiari local level government in Central.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between CEPA, the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority, the Pacific Adventist University and the Koiari local level government in Port Moresby last Friday. The project is part of biodiversity conservation through the PNG Policy on Protected Areas which the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is implementing with CEPA.
Fredrick Ohmana, the CEPA project coordinator with the CEPA/JICA project for biodiversity conservation said the objective of the project was to promote bird watching activities in the Varirata National Park, Pacific Adventist University campus and the Sirinumu and Laloki catchment areas.
“Bird watching is a new project we are implementing to give our city residents and those who visit Port Moresby a fantastic and new experience through promoting our unique biodiversity, especially the different bird species,” he said.
