PNG Sports and Tourism Minister Justin Tkatchenko assesses sports facilities in Tonga

Papua New Guinea Minister for Sports and Tourism, Justin Tkatchenko is currently in Nuku’alofa, Tonga to assess the Sporting facilities and has had a very busy three days.
Minister Tkatchenko told PNGFM that the facilities in Tonga are good but will need a little bit of touch up and remake to get it ready before the 2019 Pacific Games.
“I’ve had a look at the facilities myself and they are of very good standards. The main stadium will need new fencing, toilet and changing room facilities as well as a security mechanism is needs to be look at while the High Performance Centre just needs new roofing and a little bit of renovation in the interior will have it ready,” says Minister Tkatchenko.
According to the Minister, PNG will assist only in the main focus areas and that is the Main Stadium and the High Performance Centre.
He adds, “From our assessment we will draft out the proposal for the amount which we will then forward to the Prime Minister and the NEC to approve before the funds are given to Tonga.”
Minister Tkatchenko is been accompanied by the members of the PNG Sports Foundation and expert Engineers and Technicians.
