SP Brewery launches 2016 SP Sports Awards

SP Brewery has once again maintained its support in sports by launching the 2016 SP Sports Awards today which was witnessed by respective representatives from different sporting codes and the PNG Sports Foundation including the Olympic Committee. 

The theme for this year’s sports awards is “Celebrate” and according to the Secretary General for the PNG Sports Foundation & the Olympic Committee Mrs Auvita Rapilla, the theme reflects back on the amazing achievements by athletes and others during the 2015 Pacific Games. 

“This year’s awards are special because of the amazing sporting achievements we witnessed in 2015 and the celebrations that came along with those achievements”

She said with those achievements in the Pacific Game, she hopes to see alot nominations flooding in compared to the previous years.

Meanwhile, the awards will be presented to 12 different categories and SP Brewery has put in K35000 to cover all these categories.

• Female Athlete of the Year – International Performance

• Team of the Year – International Performance

• National Performance of the Year

• People’s Choice of the Year

• Community Sports Initiative

• Junior Male Athlete of the Year

• Junior Female Athlete of the Year

• Best Sportsperson with Disability

• Sports Official of the Year

• Sports Photo of the Year

• Sports Media of Year

The nominations will close on the 1st of April 2016 and awards will be presented in the month of May
