PAL keen on promoting PNG as tourism destination
PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) is keen on promoting Papua New Guinea as a tourism destination in the region, an airline executive says.
Assistant vice-president (international passenger sales) Eric Clark Tan said PNG was emerging as a major tourism player and PAL was ready to assist in promoting the country.
Tan, who was in the country last week with other PAL officials, said that they had met with the Tourism Promotion Authority to find out more about the country and the opportunities.
“With PAL here in the country, we certainly want to give the glamour of the general travelling public in the country from Port Moresby to Manila and from Manila into Port Moresby,” he said.
“We have 42 international destinations and 29 domestic destinations and that offers the best connection destination into the country.
“We’ve met with the PNG Tourism Authority and we requested some materials to aid us in knowing the country and to also to understand the opportunities here.
“They’ve been able to introduce us to other local agencies in the country that we can be able to partner and work with in promoting this aspect and put PNG out. We want to promote PNG internationally and we want to do that with our flights.” The National / PNG Today
