US military aircraft land at Port Moresby Jackson’s International Airport
Two United States Air Force KC-10 aircraft landed at Jackson’s International Airport early Wednesday morning.
They were participating in a routine training sortie over the southwestern Pacific Ocean when one of the aircraft experienced an emergency.
Both aircraft were inspected after landing and following coordination with PNG authorities, departed yesterday.
The KC-10’s primary roles are to transport military equipment and carry out aerial refueling. It plays a key function in the mobilisation of US military assets, taking part in overseas operations far from home.
