EMTV to televise Pacific Test
EMTV through Media Niugini Ltd will televise ‘live’ the Pacific Test between the PNG LNG Kumuls and Fiji Batis on Saturday.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka said EMTV were given the exclusive rights to televise the Pacific Test Rugby League match by the Australian NRL.
“I am happy to announce that Papua New Guineans will be able to watch their beloved PNG LNG Kumuls take on Fiji Batis on their television screens on EMTV,” Tsaka said. He added that FM 100 will also relay a ‘live’ radio broadcast if people do not have access to a television set.
EMTV’s manager for news and current affairs Neville Choi said international rugby league will feature prominently on EMTV this year and next.
He said EMTV will televise the Kumuls versus Batis match followed by the Tonga versus Samoa game.“The two matches will be exclusively telecast ‘live’. The first is the PNG LNG Kumuls versus Fiji Batis game which starts at 5.30pm on Saturday followed by the Tonga versus Samoa match at 7.30pm,” Choi said.
He said EMTV also holds the exclusive rights for the Four Nations Rugby League Tournament in England later this year and the Rugby League World Cup co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea next year.
“Exclusive telecast of the three World Cup pool matches PNG will host in Port Moresby next year will be featured on EMTV,” Choi said. He said the three licences that EMTV has been granted are for terrestrial Free-To-Air broadcasters only which EMTV holds exclusive rights in PNG.
