Kalauk : No protest march as Fraud Office will be opened
NCD Divisional Commander Sylvester Kalaut has spoken out saying the planned protest march by UPNG students must not be staged as proper clearance has not been given from the peace and good order committee including a permit for the protest to be held.
“Due to widespread reports on social media on this issue and the threats to business houses and the safety of the general public police will be out in force tomorrow and will carry out operations for a period of time until the situation is resolved peacefully to ensure public safety,” said Commander Kalaut.
Moreover, Kalaut has stated the matter about the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill to comply with his warrant of arrest is before the courts and anyone stirring up issues surrounding this will be held in contempt by the court. Commander Kalaut has also revealed that the Fraud and National Anti-Directorate office will be opened tomorrow by Police Commissioner Gari Baki with certain conditions.
