PNG Air announces CASA PNG issuing 3 year Air Operator’s Certificate
PNG Air today announced that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea (CASA PNG) has issued it with an Air Operator’s Certificate valid for 3 years following a recent audit. This certificate is required under the Civil Aviation Rule Part 119 for a company to provide commercial air services in PNG.
PNG Air CEO Muralee Siva said “CASA issuing a certificate to us for this longer period reflects the continuing confidence CASA has in our quality and management safety systems, and also indicates they are happy with the other progress we’ve been making. We view this as a big achievement on our part.”
“I’m particularly pleased that we’ve been able to get this recognition from the regulator for our safety performance and operating systems while we’ve also been managing the introduction of the brand new ATR 72-600 aircraft into our fleet, expanding the routes we fly and the number of seats we offer on those routes, and greatly increasing the number of the Papua New Guinea travelling public we carry on our services.”
“Add that to the rebranding of the airline to PNG Air, and the behind the scenes changes we’ve made to make the airline a truly PNG owned entity through NasFund and the MRDC group becoming our major shareholders, and it’s been a very busy time. I’m proud that while doing all that we’ve remained focussed on providing a safe, secure and quality service. It’s great to have CASA giving their approval for what we’ve been doing,” Mr Siva said.
