PNGRFL thanks PNG Kumuls Supporters
The Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League Board has thanked the overwhelming support from every Papua New Guinean supporters rallied behind the PNG Kumuls in the Pacific Test. Chairman Sandis Tsaka acknowledge the PNGRFL sponsors, partners and stake-holders towards the PNG LNG Kumuls following their two point victory over the Fiji Batis in the Pacific Test in Sydney.
Chairman Sandis Tsaka said this on his return from Sydney where he attended the Pacific Rim Rugby League Board meeting and watched the game that he was humbled to learn of the overwhelming support given to the PNG LNG Kumuls, coach Michael Marum and his support staff.
"I visited the dressing room after the win on Saturday night and the boys were really excited and appreciated the congratulations I conveyed to them on behalf of every supporter of our PNG LNG Kumuls," Tsaka said.
"Skipper David Mead in his usual soft spoken words asked me to convey his thanks and those of his team mates to each and everyone for your support, well wishes and prayers," Tsaka said.
Tsaka acknowledged the continued support of naming rights sponsors PNG LNG and support sponsors National Gaming Control Board, Digicel, PNG Power, Coca-Cola and Boroko Motors. "PNGRFL is proud to be in partnership with them and the win by the PNG LNG Kumuls has raised the support and belief to another level.
"It has really united us all and I want to thank all sponsors on behalf of the players, coaching staff, their families and all our supporters across the country and Pacific," he said.
Tsaka also extended his appreciation to everyone in Sydney for their hospitality and support to the team during their preparations leading up to the game, during the game and post- match.
"The red black and gold supporters cheering on the Kumuls was unbelievable and really made me proud as chairman of PNG Rugby League. I wish to also thank the media here in PNG as well as overseas for their positive coverage of our beloved PNG LNG Kumuls," Tsaka said.
The Chairman did not reveal any outcomes of the meeting in particular other Test matches and lead up matches to next year’s Rugby League World Cup.
"The IRL Board will issue a statement once the calendar is confirmed so at this stage I cannot confirm any upcoming matches for the PNG LNG Kumuls," he said. Post Courier / PNG Today
