Rabaul MP Dr. Allan Marat lashes out at PM O'Neill
The Member for Rabaul has lashed out at Peter O'Neill's demand for evidence, before he can step aside as Prime Minister.
Doctor Allan Marat has joined various other leaders and groups including the public, calling on Mr. O'Neill to step down from office.
Speaking in a conference organized by the Opposition, Doctor Marat says, Mr. O'Neill's continuous stubbornness is adding fuel to the ongoing university protests across the country.
Doctor Marat described the Prime Minister's continuous refusal to heed calls by the public as childish.
He says, Mr. O'Neill must follow the rule of law, if he must be investigated.
"Evidence will only be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction.
"Not to any private individual who is accused of having committed an offence.
"Its very childish for him to respond in that manner.
"All these problems that is happening with our students, prime minister is the cause of it, not the students," Marat said.
He says the Police have done their investigation and the Director of Fraud Squad has the evidence but they will not give it to the Prime Minister outside of the normal process established by the convention as he might protect himself with it. NBC/ PNG Today
