Polye visits bullet-wounded students
Papua New Guinea's Opposition Leader Don Pomb Polye visited the bullet-wounded students today (June 13) at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Upon his visit, Mr Polye said he was shocked to learn of live ammunitions used by the police to shoot at the students in what he described as "policemen having an intention to kill the students."
The Police Commissioner Gary Baki has denied that his policemen used rubber bullets.
Polye, however, said the severe bullet wounds Baki's policemen inflicted on the students proved, otherwise.
He has called on the commissioner to visit the students to learn about the damages.
The Opposition Leader is the third parliamentarian, who visited the students after East Sepik Governor Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
Polye will meet with the hospital's management anytime this week to know the medical reports of the students.
