Students fight each other on University grounds

Following police shoot outs yesterday that hospitalised 8 UPNG Students, male students of the University of Goroka this morning started fighting among themselves within the campus.

EHP PPC Alex N’Drasal confirmed that 2 male students were injured and rushed to the Goroka General Hospital, but the situation has been stabilised.

He said both gates of the University were on lock down and he has not allowed police officers into the Campus because it might instigate other problems.

The PPC said the fight started this morning around 9am within the University Campus only and not onto the streets and his officers are now in full force monitoring the situation outside the campus and in and around the Town area.

“I have received reports from the University’s Acting Vice Chancellor that the Administration have stabilised the situation and I will confirm facts and figures of the fight and made it known soon”, he said.

PPC N’Drasal also confirmed that Grade 10 students in the province were not affected of the current situation and are currently sitting their exams. PNGFM / PNG Today
