Armed Gang robs betting shop and walks away with large sum of cash
Close to K1million in cash was taken during a daring daylight robbery of the Pacific Racing & Sports betting shop in Gordons, Port Moresby this morning. One employee of the betting shop was also taken to hospital after he was shot on the shoulder by the armed gang.
“Six suspects posing as Labour Officers and armed with five factory made guns, drove into the main gate between 9am and 10am this morning in a grey CRV and held up staff as they prepared to open the betting shop for the days business”, said CID Armed Robbery Senior Constable Peter Gaso.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said it was pandemonium as the armed suspects fired warning shots into the air, a staff of the betting shop said a suspect pursued him and fearing for his life he broke the back fence, opened a piece of the tinned fence and ran towards the Car Club to alert police that an armed robbery was taking place.
As investigations continue it is believed that this robbery has the markings of an inside job . PNGFM / PNG Today
