Government team ready for VONC tomorrow : O'Neill
Prime Minister, Peter O’NEILL including the more than 80 MP’s and Party Leaders of Parliament arrived this afternoon in Port Moresby from Alotau and have collectively announced their preparedness for the VONC tomorrow in Parliament.
Seated next to the Prime Minister this afternoon were Party Leaders including the Leader for National Alliance and Treasurer, Patrick Pruaitch and United Resource Party Leader, William DUMA.
“We believe in political stability is vital for PNG, as discussed in Alotau and we intend to defend our Government tomorrow, “Mr O’NEILL said.
Mr O’NEILL said the IMF warned this week on slower global economic growth this year and in 2017 makes it even more critical than ever that PNG maintains a strong and competent National Government.
“Some key world commodity prices are recovering slowly, and that fact is adding to general uncertainty in the world economic outlook for this year and next year,” he added.
The Prime Minister says Opposition has never had the numbers and continued to destabilize Government but the team is ready demonstrate who they represent tomorrow.
The team cheered the Prime Minister in support of discussions held in Alotau, adding that more than 70% of the Alotau Accord from 2012 has been achieved in ensuring the people receive the best in goods and services.
When commenting on the move by Former PM’s on to the Opposition side of the house, Mr O’NEILL says the three were never a part of the current Government and showed no interest from day one.
“They have no interest whatsoever and have been standing on the sideline to see if we will be making mistakes or not and have provided no guidance for the young leaders of today, “he added.
“Mark my words after 12 months, we will be back, we will be back to form the next Government,”
Despite the move, the Government respects their decision and are confident of returning to form Government after 2017 Elections.
