Namah, Basil apologize to Grand Chief Somare

The members of the Opposition have apologized to Sir Michael Somare  for  overthrowing his government in 2011.  Member for Vanimo Green and Member for Bulolo Samuel Basil have conveyed their  sorry to Sir Michael for the political impasse in 2011.  Mr. Namah said "Today I take this time to say sorry for what happened in August, 2011

Bulolo MP Sam Basil also apologised to Sir Michael yesterday, adding that he had gone to Wewak in April for the Chief’s 80th birthday celebrations to make an official apology.

Mr Basil said he was still ashamed of his action of calling Sir Michael Somare "a stranger in the chamber" in 2011 as soon as Sir Michael was pushed into the chamber after seeking medical treatment in Singapore.

However, Mr Namah said unlike the August 2011 political impasse the vote of no-confidence is different and thanked Sir Michael for joining the Opposition to reinforce their belief for a change in Government.

He said the need to change Mr Peter O’Neill is necessary because he continues to abuse and break the fabrics of good governance, the fabrics of the rule of law and the parliamentary processes.

On his apology to Sir Michael, Mr Namah recalled that he was Opposition Leader in 2011 when he, Peter O’Neill, Don Polye, William Duma and the other coalition partners overthrew the Somare Government and elected Mr O’Neill Prime Minister while he became Deputy Prime Minister until the 2012 General Election." 

Meanwhile,  the father of the nation  Sir Somare has boosted the Opposition ranks  by showing his support for the alternate Government.
