Polye invites NA, URP and other parties to form the new government
Opposition Leader Don Polye has invited National Alliance Party leader Patrick Pruaitch, United Resources Party leader William Duma and other minority parties to join their team to form the next Government.
Mr Polye said during a media conference yesterday at the Laguna Hotel in Port Moresby where they are camping that they are prepared for possible discussions and invited the leaders, even MPs from the governing People’s National Congress Party, to join their team.
The media conference was attended by PNG Party leader Belden Namah, Pangu Party leader Sam Basil, Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat, People’s Progress Party leader Ben Micah, National Party leader Kerenga Kua and East Sepik Governor Sir Michael Somare. Mr Polye said their team aims to restore leadership credibility and are prepared to form the government on Friday as their numbers are swelling, although they did not disclosed the number of members in their team.
He said they have in their team fathers of the nation like Sir Michael Somare and Sir Julius Chan that has added value, raised profile and credibility after seeing things not done the way they wanted and charted.
"We believe in dreams all past prime ministers like Sir Michael, Sir Julius Chan, Sir Rabbie Namaliu, Sir Mereke Morauta and Paias Wingti have. We share them in humble ways and these dreams will be provided by this team.
"This team is solid and the number is growing firmly and strong. We won’t tell you the numbers, but our numbers are growing and you’ll see it on Friday as we form the new Government," he said.
Mr Micah who also called members from the Government to join their team said it is not about the numbersgame but the conscious of every member will be put to test when Parliament meets on Friday.
He said their decision must not be based on money but based on their conscience to join their team.
Mr Namah said the Prime Minister has broken a lot of laws and cannot be allowed to rule for another day.
"This is the camp for common understanding. Peter O’Neill must go. We can’t allow him one more day," he said. Micah said history tells that Sir Mekere became a Prime Minister in 1999 in the 11th hour and that the game is not over until the 11th hour.
