PM Peter O'Neill defeats Vote of No Confidence
PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has defeated Vote of No Confidence in Parliament this morning. The vote was 85 - 21 in favour of the government.
Deputy Opposition leader, Sam Basil nominated Kandep MP Don Polye as the alternative Prime Minister before he gave a speech. Parliament Speaker Theo Zurenouc allowed for Parliament to debate the VONC.
The vote was taken after the debate and the Speaker declared the results as 21 votes in favour of the Vote of No Confidence while 85 votes against it. He therefore declared that the VONC against Prime Minister Peter O'Neill was unsuccessful .
He adjourned Parliament to 2nd August, 2016.
