Police Officer shot dead in alotau
According to the Provincial Police Commander Joseph Morehari, the late officer and other officers were attending to armed robbery at Jade Island after receiving reports that a robbery was in progress.
“By the time the police officers got to Jade Island, the criminals were already firing shots at the officers and that’s when the late officer got shot while another security guard caught a bullet on his thigh” said PPC Morehari.
He said the incident took place between 9:30-10am on Saturday morning and at this time, police are still searching for the criminals that got away.
PPC Morehari said he is not able to disclose how much was stolen from the Department store but their main aim now is to find those armed criminals and put them behind bars before they cause harm to others.
