Divine Word University to announce winners of media award
Divine Word University will announce the winners of the 2016 DWU Media Excellence Award during its Foundation Day and Alumni Day commemoration at the Madang campus on Sunday, August 21.
“The DWU Media Excellence Award is an accolade to the social, cultural and economical contributions of Papua New Guinean journalists,” the university said in a statement.
“This Award encompasses upholding of media ethics, advocacy for positive development through human rights, education, social awareness, democracy, peace and unity, and reporting without fear and favour.
“The Media Excellence Award recognises exceptional editorial work of journalists and editorial cartoonists in radio, television, print media and online reporting.”
Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor David Kavanamur, will present the Media Excellence Award.
“The University acknowledges and thanks those who submitted nominations,” reads the statement.
The DWU Media Excellence Award ceremony will be followed in succession by the presentation of the DWU Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award by the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Francis Marus. Both presentations will take place in the Sir Peter Barter Auditorium of the DWU Madang campus.
