NA New Ireland branch elects new executives
PREPARATIONS for the 2017 General Elections is gradually gaining momentum in New Ireland Province as National Alliance Party branch announces its new provincial executive working team.
The new executives elected at Konos, Sentral-Niu Ailan on the 22nd of July, 2016 includes John Merebo (Chairman), Wise Haririan (Deputy Chairman), Roland Momos (Secretary), Tokava Tioti (Treasurer), John Panga (Kavieng District Co-ordinator) and Christian Harnurua (Namatanai District Co-ordinator).
A formal dinner was recently hosted by National President of the National Alliance (NA), Walter Schnaubelt at one of Kavieng’s premier lodge, Kavieng Niu Lodge to officially welcome and congratulate the new provincial NA executives.
Also attending the brief but important gathering was the former New Ireland Governor, Ian Ling-Stuckey and Local Level Government (LLG) Presidents of Sentral Niu Ailan, Namatanai, Tanir and Matalai.
Mr Schnaubelt welcomed the new executives and thanked New Guinea Islands NA Deputy President, Graham Lali for coordinating the elections for the new office bearers for the NA party in New Ireland.
With all eyes on the three seats in New Ireland, the NA President is optimistic the party will deliver on its promise and win the seats as planned.
“We are the best alternative party right now in the national and provincial level and there’s no other. National Alliance is the only one that is going head on with PPP (People’s Progress Party) in New Ireland Province. With the recent turn of events at the national front in so far as politics is concerned, it’s playing to our advantage especially in our province,” Schnaubelt said.
Schnaubelt has formally invited the new executives to attend the council meeting, convention and launch of National Alliance Party’s new policy and theme song which will be held on Friday, 19th August, 2016 at the newly opened Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby.
Former Governor, Ling-Stuckey who has been out of politics for a while told the new executives that he was very much encouraged and would be making a strong comeback this time around in the Kavieng Open Seat.
“I’m encouraged by the new and vibrant executive team in place and we need to come up with networks to form a formal structure under the National Alliance Party to move things forward. That’s the challenge now and we can do it,” he said.
The NA New Ireland Executive Chairman Merebo said his team had already started work and is looking forward to working with the three endorsed NA candidates for New Ireland Province to secure the three seats.
The recently endorsed three NA candidates include Michael Singan (New Ireland Regional), Ian Ling-Stuckey (Kavieng Open) and Walter David Schnaubelt (Namatanai Open).
