Papua New Guinea is not independent of corruption : Juffa
As Papua New Guinea prepares to mark Independence Day this Friday, Oro Governor Gary Juffa has come out strongly in reminding citizens about why it was vital to reflect more critically on challenges still faced on a day to day basis.
He stated that Papua New Guinea is still not independent off Corruption, Poverty, Apathy, Hopelessness and Inconsideration from Waigani.
“We are glad we are independent and yes we have seen developments here and there but we must reflect on how far we have come in the last 40 years,” Juffa said.
He said we must not be comfortable and say we are independent and we have come far because the fact of the matter is that we have not come this far.
The Governor revealed that after 40 years of Independence, we have indeed failed to reach a level where we should be in such time.
“We must reflect and think about the next 40 years,” he said.
Juffa is encouraging his family and the people of Oro and Papua New Guinea to use this opportunity to reflect during this weekend, by spending time with their families to think about how they as individuals can make a difference in their communities, province and the country.
“They can think about 2017 whereby they must make decisions to identify leaders rather than just politicians so that the next 40 years will not be wasted,” Juffa said.
