Marianville Secondary School student is Hiri Hanenamo Queen

“I was inspired by my aunt who was a Hiri Princess in 1978 and my family together we wanted to know more about our culture, after I learnt about my culture I was really into it so I decided to take part in the contest to also boost my confidence in public speaking,” Said Hiri Queen Ms Olive Tau.
Miss Tau hopes that through her victory the young youths can see the importance of our cultural heritage and to start taking an interest in our diverse culture.
“Our cultural heritage is dying and today’s young generation are influenced by Westernised culture as many young people are turning their backs to their culture & roots “said Tau.
Meanwhile Tau said she loves social science and has hopes of studying International Relations at a University with dreams of becoming a Diplomat.
