POM General Hospital receives container donation of medical equipment from Baylor College of Medicine, USA
The Port Moresby General Hospital received a generous container donation of medical equipment shipped from the USA to help support the Maternal and Child Health Programs of the hospital. The medical equipment container was donated by the Baylor College of Medicine, part of Texas Children’s Hospital (BCM-TCH.
When opening the container yesterday Chief Executive Officer Mr. Grant. R. Muddle greatly thanked the BCM-TCH for the extremely generous donation to help women and children in PNG. He acknowledged the receipt of a 44-foot container loaded with 20 palates of medical supplies brought to Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH).
All items were unpacked in the hospital’s medical stores and distributed to the respective areas for immediate use. Some of the equipment donated included; surgical equipment, cardiac ultrasound, electrocardiogram’s, infant phototherapy and infant warmer to name just a few of the clinical items, along with cabinets, chairs and 11 laptops and some other basic medical equipment. The donation will greatly assist doctors, nurses and other health specialists in treating specifically children and mothers at the hospital.
This medical donation is a sign of the established and strong relationship with Baylor College of Medicine to continue in improving patient care at PMGH and maintaining better health for everyone, Mr. Muddle said.
