Army call-out in PNG's Hela Province starts today
A Defence Force call out into Papua New Guinea's Hela province to end the continuous tribal fighting and general lawlessness starts operation today .
The Parliament Member for Tari-Pori and Finance Minister, James Marape, will launch the operation on Christmas Eve.
The Defence Force is being assisted by members of the police.
The Mobile Squad in Port Moresby is sending three units to assist in the operation.
There has been a surge of deadly tribal clashes in Hela this year, which has spread into the provincial capital, Tari, forcing it into locked down at times.
The operation is the beginning of a wider effort to establish a permanent police and court structure for the province to try and instil law and order. NBC/PNG Today
