PM O’Neill congratulates Bob Dadae as new PNG Governor General

“Today (Wednesday), the National Parliament has voted to nominate, Bob Dadae, as the tenth Governor-General of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea,” the Prime Minister said.
“I congratulate Dadae on his nomination, and for the confidence that Members of the National Parliament have vested in him.
“Bob Dadae has provided honourable service to our nation as a Member of Parliament and through his work in the community.”
Prime Minister O’Neill said as the Viceregal representative of Her Majesty the Queen, the Nation’s Governor-General is a person of inspiration for our people.
“From Sir John Guise to Sir Michael Ogio, the position of Governor-General of Papua New Guinea has an honoured tradition of leadership and guidance in our Nation.
“Bob Dadae is a person will be charged with significant responsibility to place his signature to formalize the legislation produced by this parliament.
“He will also swear into office the ministers and Government of the next Parliament, and senior Government officials.
“The Governor-General has a further important role in our communities, as senior leader of our Nation and a unifier of people.
“As Governor-General he will travel to all regions of our country, to bring people together promote this great nation of Papua New Guinea.
“He will also represent Papua New Guinea around the world at state events. This includes engagements with Her Majesty the Queen, and with the heads of State of partner nations.
“I know Bob Dadae will serve our nation with pride and dignity as the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea.”
“I congratulate the nominee for 10th Governor-General of Papua New Guinea and I look forward to working with him in the years to come.”
The Prime Minister further extended the Nation’s gratitude to the outgoing Governor-General, His Excellency, Sir Michael Ogio.
“Through often challenging times, Sir Michael Ogio has maintained the discipline and calm nature that was required of his position as Governor-General.
“The challenges before him were often immense, but he maintained a determined approach and respected the laws and Constitution of our nation.
“Even with health difficulties in recent years, Sir Michael Ogio continued to execute his duties professionally and with purpose.”.
