PNG Court grants bail for deported Iranian refugee
The Boroko District Court in Port Moresby, PNG has granted K1000 bail to a refugee, who had been held for providing false information to obtain an official Papua New Guinea passport.
The decision was handed down yesterday.
Logman Sawari who was held over the weekend, will now be living with a Catholic Priest at the saint Joseph Catholic Church Boroko.
Magistrate Allan Kalandi told him not to commit the same offence whilst on bail and not to to interfere with state witnesses among other bail conditions.
The 21-year-old Iranian was charged upon his return deportation back to Port Moresby from Fiji two weeks ago after his attempt to seek asylum failed.
He returns to court next week awaiting police to complete his court files. NBC/PNG Today
