PNG PM looking to MSG leaders to help labour mobility
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said he is looking to members of the Melanesian Spearhead Group to work together on advancing labor mobility in the region.
Mr O'Neill made the comments after meeting with the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Manasseh Sogavare, in Port Moresby yesterday.
The visit is Mr Sogavare’s second to Papua New Guinea as Chair of the MSG.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said there are tremendous opportunies before MSG members to enhance the capacity for people from around the region to work in different countries.
He said by establishing the right procedures, PNG wants to see people bring their skills to the country, and for Papua New Guineans to travel to build careers and strengthen social interaction.
Both leaders also discussed the issue of MSG membership, trade between MSG countries, and the PACER Plus Agreement, amongst others. NBC/ PNG Today
