PNG Hunters thrash Burleigh Bears 42 - 6

The Papua New Guinea SP Hunters thrashed Burleigh Bears 42 - 6 at  Pizzey Park this afternoon. Adex Wera scored four tries to add to the 7 tries ramping of the Bears on their backyard.

The game started off with  ANZAC Day commemoration with PNG and Australian anthems sung. The Bears wasted no time to register the first and only  try of the afternoon through Kurtis Rowe on the 4th minute. The kick was successful and the Bears led 6 - 0.

The Hunters regrouped and muscled up in defence and in attack.  Their efforts were rewarded with two tries from Adex Wera and took the lead 12 - 6. The  Hunters shot a penalty goal to extend their lead to 14 - 6 at half-time.

In the second half, it was one sided affair with Hunters dominating in defence and attack.  Man of the moment, Adex Wera scored two more tries to further extend the lead to 26 - 6.  In the next play,  Puara dived next to the uprights to put the score beyond reach to  32 - 6. on the 62th minute,  Puara set up David Loko again for the Hunters sixth try and extend the lead to 38 - 6.   In the last quarter of the game, Adex Wera set up Kuna who divided over the line for the final try.

Captain Ase Boas converted 7/8 goals for the Hunters to beat the Burleigh Bears  42 - 6 at full time.
