Gaulim Teachers College facing closure
The Gaulim Teachers college in East New Britain Province is facing closure due to the lack of funding for its upkeep.
Papua New Guinea Teachers Association Secretary Ugwalubu Mowana told NBC News the students at the college are now being fed by the surrounding villages.
The Gaulim Teachers College is having difficulty with the financing to maintain the students at the college for the next semester.
And currently the communities around the Gaulim area are feeding the students by contributing food supply for the college.
The only students who are now at the College with full fees are the students on self sponsorship.
Students who are relying on HECAS and corporate sponsorship from the provincial governments, have not received any funds in order to continue the semester.
Mr Mowana is calling on the Department of Higher Education to quickly intervene and address this issue. NBC News
