Five urgent 2017 Election petitions go before the courts
The Waigani National Court is expected to hear five separate urgent applications on the 2017 National Elections , this afternoon.
According to today's court listing, the applications will be heard together by judge administrator of election petitions, Justice Colin Makail.
Applicants including Moresby Northeast candidate and sitting Member, Labi Amaiu, who will be asking the court to allow them to pursue their petitions
Mr Amaiu had filed his case against NCD Metropolitan Superintendent and policeman, Ben Turi.
Other applicants include Tari Pori losing candidate, Doctor Hewali Hamiya,
Sylvester Harry Komba and Justus Nambi Rapula.
The trio have separate cases filed against the Electoral Commissioner, Patalias Gamato and the Electoral Commission.
Meantime, Mr Gamato had also filed a separate case against blogger Martin Namarong, which will also be heard by the same judge this afternoon.
