EHP Governor Elect Numu to take middle Benches
EASTERN Highlands Governor-elect Peter Numu said he will take the middle benches in Parliament and will not take sides with the Government or Opposition.
Mr Numu said this after signing his writs at the National Sports Institute in Goroka where the counting for the national elections in the province were conducted.
“I did not have the chance to be part of the formation of the new Government and that is why I will take the middle bench because I want to be neutral at the national political level and deliver as much as possible to my people of Eastern Highlands province,” Mr Numu said.
“I have prepared for more than 17 years for this election and that was to serve my people of EHP and have less involvement in national politics.”
Governor Numu said EHP is a large province with eight districts and there is great work to be done to serve the people by providing them with the basic infrastructure services which will in turn improve their livelihood.
“I have been approached by many political parties when the counting was in progress but I have declined to join any of them as I want to put the people of EHP first and I will follow their interest to serve them better,” he said.
Mr Numu said he will continue from where previous governors have left and added that his Government will have zero tolerance in corruption and serve the people with honesty with guidance from God. Post Courier/PNG Today
