Manase unseats former PNG Opposition leader Don Polye

One of Papua New Guinea's outspoken  and Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party leader, Don Polye has lost his Kandep Open seat to ruling People's National Congress Party man and lawyer Afred Manase. After a long wait, Returning officer Ben Besane for Kandep Open  finally announced that Alfred Manasseh is the newly elected member for the electorate.

Mr Don Polye had 3 terms in Parliament and was seeking fourth term before he lost his seat. 

Meanwhile, there are  unconfirmed reports of destruction as the supporters of the losing candidate went riot in Wabag.
