Q-Cup Champions Hunters arrive home to a rousing welcome

Thousands of people welcomed the Champions to the country after their win yesterday
Thousands in Port Moresby  turned up at the Jackson's International Airport this afternoon to welcome the 2017 Intrust Super Cup grand final winners, the SP PNG Hunters.

The Hunters team arrived to an arousing welcome by fans and members of parliament including the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
PM O’Neill congratulated the team and commended them for making the country proud despite criticisms.

The players displayed the Cup the cheering crowd 

“A lot of people said PNG cannot make it into the NRL or not even capable to play rugby at an International level and see what happened!”
“Our boys have committed themselves one hundred percent to this game and this win proves that PNG can do anything” said the Prime Minister.
While thanking all the supporters and sponsors towards the team, the Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to the Queensland Rugby League for giving the country an opportunity in rugby league.
“When the NRL rejected our proposal to be part of the competition, the Queensland Rugby League accepted our request, and for that we are grateful”
Meanwhile the Captain Ase Boas thanked the supporters for their continuous support throughout the 4 years they have been in the competition and he also gave thanks to the good Lord for bringing them this far.

Motorcade for the players around the city 

The day ended with the boys doing a tour around Port Moresby showing off the Trophy they have been working hard for in the last 4 years and finally they have hunted it down. PNGFM/ PNG Today
