PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea - In one of their final hit-outs before the FIBA Melanesia
Basketball Cup gets underway, the PepsiPNG Women’s National Basketball Team will split into ‘Red’
and ‘Gold’ teams, which will do battle in an inter-squad exhibition game on Sunday.
The two-sides will face-off at 6:30pm at the Taurama Aquatic & Indoor Centre (TAIC).
PepsiPNG Women’s National Team Head Coach Moi Muri said it was a good chance for his team to
“fine-tune” leading into next week’s international tournament.
Our girls have been working very hard in training but need some extra match fitness to make sure we are
ready,” Coach Muri said.

“This game will be six versus six, so it will really test the player’s fitness levels.”
“We also hope a big crowd will come along to TAIC and watch the players in their national team uniforms
for the first time.”
“It will be a good opportunity for basketball fans to see the ladies in action before we hit the court next
Wednesday for our first game against Fiji.”
Admission to the inter-squad game is free for all spectators, with the TAIC doors opening at 6pm.
The 2017 FIBA Melanesia Basketball Cup presented by Paradise Beverages, commences on
Wednesday, September 27 at the Taurama Aquatic & Indoor Centre (TAIC).
