The PNG LNG Kumuls are game ready for today's 3pm 2017 Rugby League World Cup pool C opener game against Wales at the Oil Search National Football Stadium.

Kumuls coach Micheal Marum at the Captains Run session confirmed the starting 18 players are ready for the game despite injury concerns to Rod Griffin.

Griffin popped a knee injury in yesterday’s training session is now being replaced by Willie ‘the Wapanamanda Mac truck’ Minoga.

“We just complete our final session (captains run) and everything went really well,” said Marum.

Marum said Kumuls vice captain Ase Boas is fit and ready to play however the team’s only concern is Rod Griffin popped a knee injury during yesterday’s training and will be unavailable for today’s opener against Wales.

“Willie Minoga is also one of the experienced players playing at the top level before and we will await team doctors assessment report on Rod Griffin,” added Marum.

Marum is confident the players will give their best game with more emphasis on ball control and defence.

This game is important for the Kumuls and PNG as a whole with three pool games hosted on home soil and coach Marum is optimistic for a good start in their world cup campaign.

“There is a lot of pressure on us but we will have to go out there and have a good start,” said Marum.
