Man arrested for allege rape of 8 year-old girl in Malaita, Solomon Islands
Police in Auki and Atori, Malaita Province in Solomon Islands have arrested a 22 year-old male for allegation of raping an 8 year-old girl on the 27 December 2017 at Ogou village in East Kwaio; in the Malaita Province.
The man is in police custody while police investigations are continuing.
The victim was transferred to Honiara for medical attention and Sexual Assault Team in Honiara is involved in this matter.
“I want to call on both parties not to take the law into their own hands as the matter is now in police hands and to anyone with information to come forward and assist Police investigations,” says Inspector Maebiru.
Rape is termed as a felony in law and its maximum penalty is life imprisonment. Press Release by RSIPF
