BSP Supports National Planning Consultative Summit


BSP PNG, 19th March, 2018 | Bank South Pacific is pleased to support the National Planning Consultative Summit scheduled in Lae, Morobe Province, from 20th - 22nd March, 2018, with a sponsorship of K50,000.BSP Retail General Manager, Paul Thornton presented the cheque to the National Planning Minster, Honourable Richard Maru, in Port Moresby.

In presenting the cheque, Mr Thornton said: "As a leading bank in PNG and the South Pacific, BSP is happy to provide support for such events, that encourages planning for economic growth in future. BSP plays an integral role in development of financial services in PNG and is the only licensed financial institution with operations in all Provinces of PNG.  Indeed, with 44 branches, 45 sub branches and 300+ agencies we are also represented in most Districts in PNG servicing nearly 1.5 million customers."

"We look forward to participating in these discussions this week at the Lae International Hotel. Themed "Securing Our Future through Inclusive Economic Growth," we hope to forge good relations and partnerships at this summit."

The event will also feature speakers from around the region namely Malaysia, India, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and United Nations.

In receiving the cheque, Minister Maru said, "On behalf of the Papua New Guinea Government, I want to thank BSP for coming forward with a silver sponsorship of K50,000 for the upcoming Summit to be held in Lae, Morobe Province.

He said that this would be the third time in 15 years that a National Development Plan for the country will be written, and within that time the Private sector, Civil Society and international experts were not included.

"With the Theme for this Summit in 2018 - "Securing Our Future through Inclusive Economic Growth," we are including the Private sector, Civil Society and international experts in discussions that are aimed at formulating a plan to improve the future of PNG's economy. We need to share ideas and find out from these countries and key stakeholders on what they have done to be successful, and that is what this Summit is about," added Mr Maru.

Mr Thornton also added that BSP would be is also supporting and/or participating in various conferences this year such as the APEC.
