Prominent Samoan businessman dies


Prominent Samoan hotelier and businessman, La'auli Alan Grey has passed away at the age of 82.


La'auli passed away peacefully at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital Saturday morning.

He ran the Aggie Grey's Group, which includes the bungalows and the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey's Resort, Le Méridien Tahiti resort in French Polynesia and Samoa Scenic Tours.

La’auli was the son of famous proprietor, the late Aggie Grey.

He was very passionate about rugby in Samoa and was instrumental in the development of the game earning himself the nickname “Mr Rugby”.

He coached the Vaiala rugby side during their winning streak from 1971 - 1978 and is fondly remembered by his team as being a very humble & generous man and a great friend.

La’auli is survived by his wife Marina and children Fred, Tanya and Aggie.
