PNG Police Commissioner Gari Baki appeals to Baker and gang to surrender

THREE SUSPECTS who allegedly extorted K1,300 cash from a woman and her son on Tuesday have been charged with extortion and locked up at the Boroko Holding Cell in the National Capital District.
The K800 that was transferred to one of the suspect’s account was refunded by the bank back to the woman’s family who had sent it on Tuesday. However, the K500 that was allegedly extorted from the woman is being held as exhibit. The money was taken from the woman and placed into a waist bag belonging to one of the suspects which was recovered by police said First Constable Ian Gunawi of the Central Police Public Safety Unit.
First Constable Gunawi said the motor vehicle used belonged to the family of one of the suspect, Armstrong Ralda, and was released back to his family yesterday.
Two of the suspects namely, Kingston Kenny and Joel Jackson are NCDC Reserve Policemen as per their identification cards.
The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary is publishing the photographs of the three suspects below to assist with the on-going police investigations.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Chief Superintendent Perou N’Dranou said he will be doing a major manpower audit of the NCD Command. He said impersonators will be identified and charged accordingly.
“In the long run I want all my policemen and women to have police identification cards and their names and regimental numbers sewn onto their uniforms so that the members of the public can have some confidence that they are dealing with real policemen and not imposters,” Chief Superintendent N’Dranou said.
