Ballot Papers arrive for PG LLG Elections


Ballot papers for the Papua New Guinea 2019 Local Level Government elections have been delivered to the Electoral Commission headquarters in Port Moresby yesterday.

The 5 million ballot papers arrived from Malaysia, where they were printed at the CP Stationary at a cost of K5.5m.

Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato took delivery of the ballot papers from local supplier MH Supplies.

The ballot papers will be unpacked and repacked according to the number of voters on the electoral roll for each ward and later dispatched before polling gets underway.

The ballot papers are among the commission's big ticket items, and Mr Gamato is please they've arrived a month before the issue of writs on April 25.

Other big ticket items include plastic seals and locks for ballot boxes, indelible ink, voting compartments, polling kits and election stationary.

In a statement, Commissioner Gamato says the 2019 LLG elections ballot papers have eight distinct security features which will make it impossible to duplicate.
