Basil moves into Planning Office
PORT MORESBY: Bulolo MP Sam H. BASIL officially took over the Ministry of National Planning and Monitoring from his predecessor Richard Maru this morning, an office which he was serving for almost two years under the O'Neill-Namah government since 2011.
In a ministerial reshuffle announced last week by Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, Maru was moved to Finance Ministry replacing Basil who was appointed to for almost a month until the duo swapped their ministries.
The vacancy for the Finance Ministry created when Tari Pori MP James Marape resigned from the office and subsequently, from the ruling PNC Party and joined Pangu Pati weeks later.
The handover-takeover was effected in a brief ceremony at the Vulupindi Haus (where the ministry is housed) today.
It was witnessed by the staff and management of the Department.
