PNG Politics : Pangu Party Split
The largest coalition in the O'Neill-Abel government, PANGU Pati has split in half, with 7 MP's joining the PNC breakaway camp led by Tari-Pori MP, James Marape camp at the Laguna Hotel in Port Moresby Friday afternoon (03.05).
Those that moved include Central Governor Robert Agarobe, Morobe Governor Ginson Sauna, Lae MP John Rosso, Goilala MP William Samb, Tewai Siasi MP Dr Kobby Bomareo and Fincherfen MP Renbo Paita.
Goilala MP William Samb says they resigned from the party to join the new camp because of the people's cries.
"Why I moved with this team is because the call for PNG and the call for Goilala is bigger than myself so I thought I should be better utilized in a young, vibrant and like-minded team of leaders whom we can change the cause of the country," Mr Samb told the media.
Lae MP John Roso shared similar sentiments, saying the group wants to see new leaders taking over for the good of the people.
