Namah challenges PNG PM Marape to account for First 100 days in Office
VANIMO-Green MP Belden Namah has challenged Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape to account for his first 100 days in office.
Mr Namah said in a statement last week, that it had been about three months since Mr Marape took office, on May 30, and he had nothing to show for what now appeared to be wasted time.
“What can he honestly say that he has achieved out of the political instability and turmoil that he orchestrated. He had months to plan for his power grab and now months to implement new policies and he has done nothing,” Mr Namah said.
“This prime minister is ‘all talk and no action’. When he started undermining the O’Neill government, which he was a part of, he said it was because the prime minister was not listening to him and his policies were not being adopted.
“These are his stated reasons for destabilising the government, but now these reasons appear to mean nothing. All he has done is made a lot of empty announcements that stir up the emotions of the people and give them false hope. But he has made no real policy decisions.
“Our country is entering a policy vacuum with no concrete policies aside from those implemented by the previous government.
“Government must provide leadership and make decisions and it must be run on strong policies that create jobs and drive development, but we have seen nothing new from this Marape government.
“It seems his greatest achievement so far is to make PNG look like a racist country in the eyes of the international community. No other country would declare that it is racially biased or the dominance of one skin colour as he is doing with his Black Christian Nation ideas.
“It would appear that James Marape is taking his inspiration from Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe with his racial exclusionist outlook.
“He has embarrassed the nation with this racist talk and is making our country a laughing stock in the international community. We are not racists in Papua New Guinea. We are an inclusive country that welcomes people of all colours and ethnicities to the development of this country.
“Papua New Guinea must work with all of our international partners and we must deliver investment and create jobs.
“This All Talk No Action Prime Minister has demonstrated that he does not have the leadership qualities and the maturity that is needed to manage the affairs of our country.”
