Former PNG Deputy PM Abel commends the work of decommissioned Ministers
Out going PNG Finance Minister and Member for Alotau and Parliamentary Leader of Our Development Party (ODP), Charles Abel has commended and acknowledged the hard of colleague ministers who were decommissioned by Prime Minister James Marape.
'I acknowledge the dedication and hard work of outgoing Ministers, Hon. Elias Kapavore, Hon. Alfred Manase and Hon. Petrus Thomas."
Mr.Abel said this in a statement following his decommissioning as the Minister finance and thanked Prime Minister James Marape for the opportunity to serve briefly in his Cabinet.
"It is the Prime Ministers prerogative to select the team he feels is best qualified to run the country and I thank the Prime Minister for according me the honour of serving briefly in his Cabinet as Finance Minister. I've had the great privilege of serving under three Prime Ministers as a Minister in different capacities including Deputy Prime Minister.
In this short time at the Department of Finance we have focused on payroll reform and brought a comprehensive submission to Cabinet, appointing an independent and professional board for the National Procurement Commission which has been endorsed by Cabinet, the Integrated Financial System IFMS rollout to Provinces and Districts, the APEC audit and asset disposal exercise, increase of non tax revenue, government office rental reform, and annual Close of Accounts process reforms.
Our alliance team of ODP, PNG Country Party and Social Democratic Party has 8 MPs. We are part of this coalition government. We have two hard-working Ministers in Sir Puka Temu, Minister For Bougainville Affairs and Hon. Justin Thatchenko, Housing Minister.
I congratulate the incoming Finance Minister, Hon. Rainbo Paita and the National Alliance and United Resource Party new Ministers". he said.
