Port Moresby Traffic Operations launched for up-coming festive period
TRAFFIC Police in Port Moresby have launched their operations in preparation for the up-coming festive period.
National Capital District (NCD) Metropolitan Commander Chief Superintendent Perou N’Dranou said, “Culturally, festive periods bring on a lot of binging and fatal accidents have known to occur claiming the lives of many people in the past, and that’s why it is important for us to act now to deter such reckless behaviour.”
Mr N’Dranou said police road blocks will be mounted in the lead up to and during the festive period at designated stops around the city and vehicles will be stopped to ensure motorists are complying with traffic regulations and the law.
He said in recent times the city has experienced intermittent black outs at the traffic lights and members of NCD Traffic Police are being deployed to control the smooth flow of Traffic.
Mr N’Dranou is urging vehicle owners in Port Moresby to consider their own safety especially when driving home after work or when moving around over the weekends.
