Ase Boas is SP PNG Hunters Captain for 2020
Ase Boas is the SP PNG Hunters captain for the 2020 season, the announcement was made at the 2020 launching of the SP PNG Hunters season at the National Football Stadium.
The Hunters turned up in their 2020 season jersey in front of sponsors and the media for the full team announcement and the naming of the captain and vice-captain.
SP PNG Hunters coach Mather Church was given the opportunity to make the announcement with Ila Alu named as vice-captain for this season.
Boas is not new to the captaincy role as his leadership has contributed immensely in the Hunters successive history winning the Intrust Super Cup grand final in 2017 and then went on to captain the team again in the following year.
He also represented the PNG LNG Kumuls on seven occasions and signed up with the Featherstone Rover playing five games in 2019.
Boas thank the coach and the Hunters management for having the trust in him to lead as captain. He says leadership has been part of his life and encouraged all players to be leaders in their own right
He says he is looking forward to working with the young crop of players and vowed to give his best this season under the guidance of new coach Mathew Church.
Vice-Captain Ila Alu said they have a great team of players who are physically and mentally fit for this season and he issure they will make an impact in this season.
The SP Hunters have their first pre – season trials against Central Queensland Capras on the 22nd of February at the National Football Stadium, with their first home game set for Sunday March 22nd against the Townsville Blackhawks in round 2 of the 2020 ISC Competition.
