PNGRFL Chairman Tsaka welcomes NRL Rugby League Teams to PNG
PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka has urged residents in Port Moresby to embrace and support NRL Teams – Canterbury Bulldogs and Cronulla Sharks – when they arrive in Port Moresby tomorrow (Thursday February 20, 2020) ahead of their pre-season ‘Trial’ Match this weekend.
“Both teams arrive in Port Moresby at 12.20pm tomorrow (Thursday) from Brisbane and let’s welcome them on arrival,” Tsaka said.
He said the public will have an opportunity to meet and greet the players at 3.30pm in the afternoon at the Oil Search National Football Stadium.
Tsaka said notable players from the Bulldogs include Dylan Napa, William Hopoate, Josh Jackson and Dean Britt while the Sharks have Josh Dugan, Royce Hunt and Scott Sorenson. “This is an opportunity to personally meet them,” he added.
The Chairman said on Friday the Sharks will conduct clinics with selected schools at the NFS from 9am to 10.00am. The Bulldogs and SP Hunters will visit Boreboa and June Valley Primary Schools from 10.00am to 11.00am.
Tsaka also welcomed the Central Queensland Capras to Port Moresby for a pre-season trial against our SP Hunters.
“We look forward to seeing new SP Hunters Coach Matthew Church and his charges on the field for the first time,” he added.
The SP Hunters vs CQ Capras match kicks off at 3.00pm followed by the Bulldogs and Sharks clash at 5.30pm.
“I welcome the three teams including their managements to PNG and have been assured that they will produce some quality rugby league for all to see this Saturday,” he said.
Tsaka acknowledged the Australian Government through the PNGAusPartnership and NRL for making this possible.
