Health Minister Wong says PNG has 'probable' case of Coronavirus or COVID-19

Papua New Guinea Health Minster Jelta Wong says PNG has a "Probable" case of Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In a statement this afternoon, the minister said that the probable suspect was a 45-year-old male, who arrived in Port Moresby on the 13th of March, but did not show any symptoms of coughing, flu or fever.

Mr. Wong said that the suspect showed signs of flu and slight fever 24 hours after arriving in the country, and has been isolated and placed under strict quarantine, with test results sent into the Institute of Medical Research for testing.

The person originally travelled from Madrid, Barcelona, Istanbul and entered our borders through Singapore, and travelled to Port Moresby then onto Lae in the Morobe Province.

The results for the test will be available later tonight or tomorrow morning from IMR.
