PNG PM Marape thanks Japan
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, James Marape, has thanked and acknowledged Japan for its significant contribution through major infrastructure developments in Papua New Guinea.
He made these remarks while welcoming Japan’s new resident Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Kuniyuki Nakahara, in Port Moresby, this morning.
Mr. Marape said Japan has been a key development partner of PNG since 1975.
He said PNG has seen various major infrastructure development projects funded by Japan such as the 2009 Port Moresby Sewerage System Upgrading Project, the 2015 Nadzab Airport Redevelopment Project and the 2013 Ramu Transmission System Reinforcement Project, for Lae City.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Marape also welcomed the new Fijian High Commissioner to PNG, Mosese Tikoitoga, in Port Moresby earlier today.
During the courtesy call by Ambassador Tikoitoga and Prime Minister Marape discussed the success of the two governments’ steadfast contributions to strengthening the bilateral relationship in the areas of trade and investment, people to people connectivity, agriculture, tourism, and sports, amongst others.
