PNG Health authorities investigate Death relating to Flu Symptoms

A medical team from the PNG's Morobe Provincial Health Authority in  was deployed to the Tewai – Siassi District to investigate the cause of two deaths caused from a common flu like symptom.


Morobe medical health adviser, Micah Yawing told FM 100 news today that a team was deployed yesterday with full medical supplies to established the cause of the two deaths.

He says from data collected, more than 80 people are diagnosed with common flu, but since there is suspected cases of Covid-19, the team will also collect sample for testing.

Mr. Yawing says those affected are from the Garup, Rabafu, Zankoa, and Zamep villages in the Tewai – Siassi District.

He says from reports on the ground, many of these locals were facing shortness of breath, Fever, Back aches and running nose whom all were elderly people.

Meanwhile, acting health secretary and deputy State of Emergency controller, Dr. Paison Dakulala says they are aware of the report and will make an announcement this afternoon depending on the outcome of the results.

He says samples collected there are among the tests that are pending results.
